The Phoenix Suns were blown out at home Tuesday night by the Brooklyn Nets, and star shooting guard Devin Booker wasn’t happy about the loss at all.
The Suns lost by a final score of 104-82. Fans at Talking Stick Resort Arena booed the Suns all night, as the team showed no fight or hustle.
Speaking to local reporters after the defeat, Devin Booker said the team has zero chemistry right now.
“It sucks, man,” Booker told reporters, via ESPN.com. “We thought last game would be our step forward. We definitely took a step back tonight. We didn’t protect home court, came in here and got blown out in front of our fans. It’s embarrassing.
“I think all good teams have that trust and chemistry, where they’re able to get on each other and know that it’s for a better purpose. For us, I don’t think we have that right now. We’re not comfortable with each other, we don’t step on each other’s toes, we don’t push each other, and I think that’s what we need to do.”
Booker finished with a team-high 20 points in 36 minutes. However, the 22-year-old shot only 6-of-21 from the field and 2-of-8 from beyond the arc.
With the defeat, the Suns are now last in the Western Conference with a 2-8 record. Phoenix had the worst record in the league last campaign, which eventually netted them the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Suns selected Arizona big man Deandre Ayton.
The Suns host the Boston Celtics on Thursday, and Booker and his teammates certainly need to bounce back and make a positive response.
