It’s been a long while since the Phoenix Suns experienced the highs they had during the “Seven Seconds or Less” years. However, Devin Booker and TJ Warren did accomplish something notable against the Minnesota Timberwolves that no Suns teammates have since those glory days of Steve Nash and Amar'e Stoudemire nearly a decade ago.

Aside from racking up 35 points, Booker also had nine rebounds and six assists to lead the Suns to a 118-110 win over the Timberwolves, which snapped Phoenix’s five-game slump.

With Eric Bledsoe gone, Booker is now well and truly the Suns’ leader. Apart from his scoring, he must take on a much larger role on the team moving forward, particularly in terms of playmaking. While it’s nowhere near Nash’s numbers, the fact that he has already had four games with six or more assists is a promising sign.

Meanwhile, Warren obviously isn’t nearly the same explosive force of nature that Stoudemire was at his peak in Phoenix. However, the four-year pro is proving to be a reliable second option behind Booker. He’s averaging 18.4 points on 50 percent shooting on the season, and has ramped those numbers up to 22 points on 52 percent from the floor in November.

While the Suns are still far away from even sniffing the success of those Nash and Stoudemire-led teams, Booker and Warren can at least give hope for a brighter future by providing the types of numbers of past Suns stars.
