Ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers' matchup with the Phoenix Suns, head coach Doc Rivers shared his thoughts on the upcoming opponent.

When asked about what point guard Ricky Rubio brings to the Suns, Rivers jokingly responded by calling him a ‘clever little f—er.'

Rivers also noted that it will be beneficial for Devin Booker to be able to play more ‘off the ball' now that Rubio is playing at the point guard. Last season, there were point guard options that started for the Suns ranging from Isaiah Canaan to start the season, De'Anthony Melton, Elie Okobo, Tyler Johnson, and even Booker. A veteran point guard was sorely needed.

Last season, Rubio suited up for 68 regular-season games with the Utah Jazz and averaged 12.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists. His provided a needed passing presence but his limitations as a scorer prompted the Jazz to let him walk in free agency in favor of trading for Mike Conley.

The three-year, $51 million contract that Rubio signed with the Suns in the offseason was highly criticized. It's still too early for a judgement to make about any signing that was made in the offseason, but he appears to be a clear upgrade over the options that they had to choose from on their roster in 2018-19.

Ricky Rubio has averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 10.0 assists, and 3.0 steals so far during his two games with the Suns. It is worth noting that 26.3 percent from the field and has yet to convert on a three-point attempt.
