Greg Monroe’s debut for the Phoenix Suns definitely could’ve gone better. While he had a strong game personally with 20 points and 11 rebounds, the Suns were on the receiving end of a 142-116 humiliation by the Houston Rockets, who had 90 points by halftime.

The veteran big man was clearly not impressed by his new team’s effort levels when asked about it post-game.

After a mini-revival brought about by the arrival of interim coach Jay Triano; who took charge after Earl Watson's firing, the Suns have since gone on an extended slump. They have now lost seven of their last eight games after the Rockets defeat, five of which have come at home.

It must be somewhat frustrating for Monroe to suffer through that embarrassing defeat on his debut, while his old team; the Milwaukee Bucks, have won four games in a row since trading him away for Eric Bledsoe.

The Suns are a young and inexperienced group, though, and as with many young teams, they will have inconsistent performances and effort levels from game to game.

Lack of effort is just one of many problems Monroe will have to get used to during his spell in Phoenix, as the Suns don't figure to be very good this season.
