Isaiah Canaan of the Phoenix Suns watched his horrific injury over and over again in an effort to get past the initial mental trauma.

Canaan sustained the left ankle fracture in the first quarter of their game against the Dallas Mavericks last season. It was an injury similar to that of Gordon Hayward of the Boston Celtics. And according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, Canaan shared that he watched the replay of his own injury several times:

“I used to watch it when I couldn’t even walk,” Canaan said. “I watched it just to try to get over the mental part of it. If somebody wants to see it, I always say they can watch it,” he said. “It doesn’t bother me.”

Suns head coach Igor Kokoskov commended Canaan for his courage, calling him a hero.

“He’s a hero,” Suns coach Igor Kokoskov said. “Just (10) months ago, he was in the hospital thinking can he ever play basketball again? Now he’s a starting point guard in this league. We all have to give him respect and credit for that.

Isaiah Cannan, who's averaging 8.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 16 games this season, admitted that he thought his career was going to be over after the injury. But he decided to put in the work and now he's part of the Suns' starting line up as the team's point guard.
