On April 9 against the Dallas Mavericks, Jamal Crawford made NBA history with the Phoenix Suns.

Crawford scored 51 points, becoming the oldest player in league history to have a 50-point game. Crawford was 39-years-old. Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan held the record before Crawford.

Crawford also scored his 51 points off the bench, something which had never been done before.

“That night, 25 was like the number,” Crawford told Jeremy Mills on The Jeremy Mills Podcast. “I had that the end of the third. So then the fourth starts, I score 12 immediately. I'm at like 37, 38 with like nine minutes to go. That's the first time I'm like oh, this is a 50-point night.

“That was unbelievable, the oldest player ever to do it. Before me, it was Michael Jordan, best player ever. It's never been done off the bench. I didn't even think it was possible. I just didn't think it was enough time.”

The Suns lost that game to the Mavs, but Jamal Crawford was still the talk of the NBA that night. He shot 18-of-30 from the field, 7-of-13 from beyond the arc and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line in 38 minutes.

Crawford is still on the open market. The veteran scorer is probably not going to re-sign with the Suns since Phoenix is rebuilding.

There has to be some team out there which needs scoring off the bench. It will be interesting to see who picks up Crawford before the 2019-20 season starts.
