It was another tough loss for the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night, as they fell to the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder, 110-100. With the Suns now 3-12 to start the season, some frustration appears to be boiling over within the team.
Towards the end of the third quarter on Saturday, Suns swingman Josh Jackson was fuming with the apparent lack of effort shown by teammate T.J. Warren. Following a turnover from an inbound play, Jackson was caught on camera berating Warren and questioning his desire to win.
Jackson was tasked to make the inbound pass with just 4.0 seconds left in the third quarter. They were on the opposite side of the court, so in reality, a high-quality shot attempt was no longer looking like a viable possibility for the Suns at that point.
This is perhaps why Warren appeared to have shown some hesitation in receiving the pass from Jackson. He literally stopped in his tracks, which allowed his defender to intercept the inbound pass. To this, Jackson was incensed, and screamed at his teammate: “Do you want to f–kin play or what?!”
While Jackson was visibly upset heading into the bench, nothing untoward ensued between the two. For his part, Warren appeared to have acknowledged his mistake by not barking back at his livid teammate.
As expected, the Suns have been horrible again this season, so it's actually good to see a little fight in these boys every now and again. The team won't be competitive this season (and perhaps even within the next couple of years?), but it's nice to know that the passion for winning still burns strong within the team.
