Phoenix Suns forward Josh Jackson suffered an ankle injury during Thursday night's game against the Detroit Pistons. The former Kansas Jayhawk landed awkwardly after going up for a block attempt. At first, there were some who thought his injury was severe, as he was in obvious pain. That doesn't seem to be the case, though, according to a report from Gina Mizell of The Athletic.

Mizell reports that Jackson's injury was not serious in nature, though he did not return to play. Suns head coach Igor Kokoskov is hoping to provide additional information about Jackson's status by Friday evening:

Jackson logged 24 minutes in Thursday's match-up against the Pistons, scoring three points on 1-of-7 shooting from the field, two assists and two rebounds. Ray Spalding replaced Jackson after he sustained his injury.

Several players could see up-ticks in their usage rates if Jackson has to miss time, including Spalding, De'Anthony Melton and Mikal Bridges. Jimmer Fredette recently agreed to the terms of a two-year deal with the Suns after a stint of playing in China. Once he receives clearance from the NBA, he too could be called on.

In 73 appearances with the Suns this season (26 starts), Jackson has racked up averages of 11.0 points on 40.9 percent shooting from the field (31.6 percent from beyond the arc), 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and just under one steal (0.9) in 24.3 minutes per outing.

The Suns (17-56 and 5th in the Pacific Division standings) will be back in action on Saturday night, when they'll travel to Sacramento for a match-up against the Kings. Tip-off inside the Golden 1 Center is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.
