Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams has just been named this season's Coach of the Year. The 50-year-old shot-caller made an appearance on the NBA on TNT broadcast as the crew congratulated him for a well-deserved victory.

The one moment that stood out in their conversation was when Kenny Smith attempted to recruit Williams' son, Elijah, to his own team. The Suns coach impressively dodged Smith's blatant pitch on national television by dropping a hilarious truth bomb on his own son (h/t NBA on TNT on Twitter):

“The one kid that you're referring to is Elijah,” said the Suns coach. “I'm more concerned with his bedroom and bathroom staying clean right now than his left hand crossover. Sometimes I walk in there and it smells like a butt cheek. That's what I'm more concerned about.”

Currently, Elijah Williams is still in eighth grade but he's made some waves in the middle school basketball scene. So much so, that Kenny Smith had to talk about him during a live national TV broadcast. The Suns head coach, however, responded to Smith's half-serious proposal with humor.

In all seriousness, it's hard to argue against Williams bagging the Coach of the Year title after leading the Suns to a league-best record in the regular season. Right now, however, Phoenix has its eyes set on the big prize — an NBA championship.
