Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams remains to be one of the hottest names in the market for teams that are in search of a new head coach for next season.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Phoenix Suns are one of the frontrunners to sign Williams, with the team set to interview the 47-year-old for a second time, and this time, it appears that team owner Robert Sarver will be present during the meeting.

The Suns are pretty serious about signing Williams as the successor to the recently fired Igor Kokoskov. They appear to be prepared to go all in on Williams, with the team's most influential top executive set to jump in on the process. It would not be a surprise if Sarver serves as the closer to this deal.

The Los Angeles Lakers are another high-profile suitor, and there have also been reports that Williams is one of a few names that are on top of their list, along with former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue. However, with this recent development, the Suns are obviously more invested in Williams at this point.

It is worth noting, however, that Williams is still currently heavily involved in an all-out second-round playoffs battle as his Sixers take on the Toronto Raptors. Philadelphia was able to log a 94-89 Game 2 victory on Monday as they tied the series 1-1.

This series will now shift back to Philadelphia for Game 3, and the team will definitely need Williams focused one hundred percent on the task at hand. Until then, the Suns can just try to do what they can.
