Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams recently opened up about the Phoenix Suns' crushing NBA Finals loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. The 49-year-old revealed several details that contributed to Phoenix's downfall, with one of them being Chris Paul's wrist injury.

CP3 was playing through a considerable injury throughout the Finals, which was perhaps the biggest factor behind his disappointing performance in the series against the Milwaukee Bucks. Apparently, Paul sustained the injury during the Western Conference Finals against the Clippers. According to Williams, he believes former LA guard Patrick Beverley played a key role in the exact moment CP3 first injured his wrist:

“I think it was when (then-Clippers guard Patrick Beverley) made that play on him and he had to put his hand down, I think that’s when it probably started,” Williams told Sam Amick of The Athletic, via Alex Kirschenbaum of Hoops Rumors. “I don’t think anybody did it on purpose, but he got to a point where he just couldn’t use it like he normally could. So that part bothered me because he was getting flack and he’s out there battling, playing in that much pain.”

To be clear, Williams pointed out that he doesn't think Beverley did anything to purposely injure Chris Paul. Nevertheless, it's no secret that Beverley, now with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Paul don't see eye to eye. The fact that the ex-Clippers guard shoved CP3 moments before LA was eliminated by the Suns in Game 6 of the WCF only serves as a testament to this fact.

Not long after the season ended for the Suns, Paul underwent surgery to address the injury on his left wrist. Needless to say, this was no simple knock, and it only goes to show how much pain CP3 had to play through during the Finals. That's all water under the bridge now, and for their part, the Suns are just hoping to get a shot at redemption this coming season.
