The Phoenix Suns are currently finalizing a deal with free agent big man Eric Moreland, according to a report from Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

After buying out veteran center Tyson Chandler and waiving guard Isaiah Canaan, Phoenix was left with just 13 men on their roster. Luke Adams of HoopsRumors reports that the Suns have until Wednesday (December 12) to bring their roster back to 14-player minimum.

The Suns, who signed Jawun Evans to a two-way contract on Friday, have been active on the market in recent days and are reportedly engaged in talks with the Los Angeles Lakers, who have interest in three-and-D specialist Trevor Ariza.

Moreland, 26-years-old, has served stints with the Kings and Pistons and attended the Raptors' training camp in September. An athletic player who provides a solid presence in the paint, Moreland could be more than bench-filler as and instead be a fine addition to the Suns' frontcourt rotation.

In his 67 appearances with the Pistons last season (three starts), Moreland posted averages of 2.1 points on 54.1 percent shooting fro the field, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and just under one block (0.8) in 12.0 minutes per outing. Detroit waived the former Oregon State Beaver before his 2018/19 salary could become fully guaranteed.

The Suns (4-22 and 5th in the Southwest Division standings) will be back in action on Monday night, when they'll welcome the L.A. Clippers to town. Tip-off inside Talking Stick Resort Arena is set for 9:00 p.m. EST.
