The Phoenix Suns have reportedly begun the process of interviewing candidates for their general manager job, according to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

Former NBA player James Jones is the interim general manager of the Suns right now. He took over for Ryan McDonough, who was fired by Phoenix on Oct. 8.

The Phoenix Suns have begun the process of interviewing candidates for their general manager job, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro has learned.

The possibility remains open for co-interim general managers James Jones and Trevor Bukstein to remain with the team, either as a general manager or in another capacity.

Gambadoro also reports that the team will have new faces in its basketball operations department prior to the upcoming NBA Draft.

The Suns desperately need an experienced general manager to build a solid roster around star shooting guard Devin Booker and rookie big man Deandre Ayton.

Phoenix hasn't had a winning record since 2014. The last time the Suns were in the playoffs was during the 2009-10 season. The franchise has been a walking disaster for years and ownership needs to hire the proper architect to turn the team around.

The Suns are 12-50 on the season entering Wednesday. They have the worst record in the NBA.
