Phoenix Suns officials, coaches and players raved about center Deandre Ayton's work ethic this offseason, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

By the looks of it, Ayton is primed to have a big second season in the NBA for the Suns.

2018 No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton appears primed for a big season. Suns officials, coaches and players all have raved about Ayton’s work ethic this offseason and believe he is going to have a monster campaign. He and Devin Booker will need to continue to build chemistry along with veteran additions Ricky Rubio and Aron Baynes and re-signed forward Kelly Oubre Jr. — with new coach Monty Williams providing a structure in Phoenix.

In his first season in the NBA, Deandre Ayton averaged 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in 71 games while shooting an efficient 58.5 percent from the field. He recorded 39 double-doubles.

People sometimes forget Ayton was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 Draft. The Suns big man was overshadowed by Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young last season despite averaging a double-double.

That was mostly because the Suns were just so putrid. Phoenix won 19 games last season.

The Suns hired Monty Williams after firing Igor Kokoskov after just one season. We'll see if Williams can get the best out of Ayton and the rest of the roster in Phoenix.
