The Phoenix Suns have a young roster thanks to the likes of Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Josh Jackson, Mikal Bridges and others. They're set to add to that youth with the signing of Ray Spalding:

Ray Spalding is a 21-year-old rookie forward out of Louisville. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 56th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he played one game this season. That lone appearance was against the Suns, and he saw just one minute of playing time.

Spalding is an athletic, 6-foot-10 project big man, but one that a rebuilding team like the Suns can afford to take on.

The forward is having a superb season in the G League, showing that he has an all-around game. Spalding is averaging 15.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in 29 contests. He has also been fantastic on the defensive end, averaging 1.6 steals and 2.5 blocks.

This could be a nice opportunity for Spalding. He's going to a team that isn't in the playoff picture and needs help in the frontcourt. Due to that, he could see some playing time.

It's not hard to imagine the Suns giving him another 10-day contract after this one to give him ample time to show what he can do. After that, a rest-of-season contract is a question mark, but perhaps he proves his worth in Phoenix and can stick around.
