The Phoenix Suns will be shorthanded on Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as point guard Ricky Rubio and center Aron Baynes won't play.

Rubio is out with a back ailment, while Baynes has a hip injury:

The Suns are 7-7 on the season, which is good for 8th place in the Western Conference standings. However, Phoenix has lost three straight games after getting off to a hot start.

In his first season with the Suns, Rubio is averaging 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game. He's shooting 38.5 percent from the field, 34.3 percent from beyond the arc and 86.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Baynes, who is also in his first season with the Suns, is putting up 14.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 12 games. The 32-year-old is shooting an efficient 56.1 percent from the floor, 44.2 percent from the 3-point line and 71.9 percent from the charity stripe.

The Suns have been a walking disaster for years. They haven't made the playoffs since 2010. Head coach Monty Williams has done a good job with the team thus far, but Phoenix has to snap out of its losing streak, sooner rather than later.

The Timberwolves are right above the Suns in the West standings. Minnesota is 8-7, 7th place in the Western Conference.
