Phoenix Suns point guard Ricky Rubio will be entering his ninth season in the league this coming campaign. He will be turning 29 this year, and at this point, the 6-foot-4 guard believes that he is about to reach the peak of his career.

“I'm fully expecting to play the best game, the best play of my career in these next two or three years,” Rubio declared, via Suns insider Duane Rankin. “I'm going to hit my prime mentally and physically and I've been working super hard for that.”

Rubio joined the league as a highly-touted 21-year-old from the EuroLeague back in 2009. He was selected fifth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he would spend the first six years of his career. In the summer of 2017, the Wolves shipped off Rubio to the Utah Jazz in exchange for a future first round pick.

The Spanish international would spend the next two seasons in Utah, averaging a career-high 12.9 points (on 41.2 percent shooting), 4.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.5 steals, while also knocking down 1.2 three-pointers per contest on a 33.2-percent clip.

Rubio's deal with the Jazz ran out this summer, and instead of re-signing with the team, he decided to accept a lucrative three-year, $51 million deal to play for the Suns. This may not have been the best move in terms of improving his chances of winning an NBA title, but Rubio is expected to fill a much bigger role for a Phoenix side that has been struggling over the past few years. This being the case, the former All-Rookie team member is likely to up his production with the Suns, thereby living up to his promise of hitting his prime over the next few seasons.
