After leading Spain to a 101-62 blowout victory over Tunisia in the opening day of the FIBA World Cup in China, Phoenix Suns point guard Ricky Rubio believes he's at the top of his game.

Rubio, a long-time member of the Spanish national men's basketball team, scored 17 points and dished out nine assists in the win. After the game, he said that he has gained a lot of confidence after his workouts this summer and that he has reached his prime, per EuroHoops.com.

“I had a great summer, I have a lot of confidence. I was working out physically and mentally. I am on my prime I guess. And that leads me to be one of the leaders of this team. Marc Gasol is the big guy here, but we have a good squad besides him. We have a lot of experience. Playing with the national team is always different. You are playing with your friends, you are playing for your family and for your country. It’s huge.”

Rubio, who signed with the Suns this offseason, is expected to be the team's starting point guard while Devin Booker slides to the shooting guard position. Although a lot of people aren't expecting much from his team, the 28-year-old Spaniard is optimistic that they can win a lot of games.

That is a story for another day, though. Right now, Rubio is focused on helping Spain win gold in the FIBA World Championships. And he's off to a good start.
