After being the butt of many a joke over the years, the Phoenix Suns franchise has looked surprisingly solid through the first few games of the 2019-20 regular season.

However, their momentum could be put into a halt after Ricky Rubio suffered a knee injury against the Denver Nuggets in their second game of the season. Now, according to the latest updates, the veteran guard has been ruled out for their showdown against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Rubio has looked terrific with a youthful Suns lineup that features far more players that can be deemed rotation-worthy.

Nonetheless, even with Rubio out, the Suns got some better news about the team’s first-round draft pick Cam Johnson — who has yet to play a regular season game due to a calf injury.

The Suns traded down in the 2019 draft and selected Johnson with the 11th overall pick, a move that was widely panned after the draft. Still though, Johnson’s knockdown shooting ability might be the single-best skill of any player in his class, so the spacing he will provide is sure to aid the Arizona-based team.

Phoenix is surely looking for some good news after it was reported that former No.1 overall pick Deandre Ayton will miss 25 games due to a suspension for testing positive for a diuretic.

Though Rubio and Ayton will be big losses, the presence of Johnson is sure to be a welcome addition.
