Phoenix Suns guard Ricky Rubio won't be suiting up against the New Orleans Pelicans due to back spasms, per Daniel Sallerson of pelicans.com.

Rubio missed their duel with the Boston Celtics but returned back to action against the Sacramento Kings. However, he played just 16 minutes in the 12-116 loss to the Kings and shot 0-of-7. He left the game early as his back was bothering him.

Analysts observed that the Suns' offense looked lost without Rubio on the floor. Though Jevon Carter is a pretty decent backup guard, Rubio just brings that X-factor to the court that gives his team that edge. Head coach Monty Williams admitted that Rubio is indeed the leader of the team.

“He’s a leader on our team, there’s no doubt, but we’ve proven there’s a style of play that works for us,” WIlliams said, per Brandon Kleen of SB Nation. “It may not mean you’re going to win the game, but it will give you a shot.”

The Spanish guard has been key in transforming the Suns' this year. His veteran smarts, as well as his innate understanding of the game,  has trickled on over to the Suns' young guns like Devin Booker and Kelly Oubre. So far, they hold a decent 7-6 record. In 11 games this season, Rubio has averaged 12.5 points and 8.1 assists.
