After years of toiling in the bottom half of the NBA, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns have finally made it back on top.

Now, they're in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993 and awaiting the winner between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks.

The Suns could tip their hat to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors for inspiring them to reach new heights. You see, Suns' former general manager Ryan McDonough had the Warriors' blueprint in mind when he built the team, selecting Booker and Deandre Ayton while trading for Mikal Bridges in the NBA Draft.

McDonough is thrilled to see that his foreshadowing has paid off for the Suns (via NBC Sports Bay Area)

“I've said this before guys and I'll say it again, a big part of the reason, maybe the biggest part of the reason, we did that is because the team in your backyard was so good that I didn't see any way we could beat them. So we tried to build the team and its window beyond the great Warriors run (to five straight NBA Finals). And it looks like they've made some good moves since I left and that's starting to pay off.”

It's easy to see Booker, Bridges, and Ayton as the Suns' version of Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. And with the addition of Chris Paul in the mix, they've made quite the memorable run this season.

Don't be surprised at all if the Suns build their own dynasty like the Warriors in the near future.
