The Golden State Warriors are looking to get a winning streak going against the Phoenix Suns. However, shooting guard Klay Thompson knows Deandre Ayton will not make it easy for them.

The rookie has played extremely well as of late. According to Mark Medina of The Mercury News, Thompson is convinced he has all the makings of a great NBA big man:

“He’s going to be in the league for the next two decades,” Thompson said of Ayton. “That’s how good he is.”

“It’s pretty amazing to see how far he’s come,” Klay said. “He can be our best big man in the league. It’ll take some time. But he’s got all the skills.”

This is certainly some high praise from Thompson. His comments are also well-warranted considering how well the rookie has played in the 2018-19 NBA season. It is safe to say that Ayton will be happy to hear what his former idol had to say about him.

Ayton revealed a while back that Thompson had a tremendous influence on his basketball career. The Warriors star had gone to a basketball camp in the Bahamas following his rookie year. Among the campers in attendance was the future No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. It appears Ayton has finally earned the respect of a player whom he has admired for quite some time.

There is no question that Ayton is certainly deserving of such praise. However, Thompson's comments have sparked up even more speculation about his status as a free agent this offseason. Perhaps he is intrigued at the prospect of playing alongside the future premier big man in the NBA.
