The Phoenix Suns had just made a no-brainer of a decision in grabbing Deandre Ayton out of Arizona with the top overall pick in the NBA Draft. But the offseason movements at the desert have only started. This time, the Suns are faced by decisions on whether Elfrid Payton and Alex Len stay.

According to Scott Bordow of Arizona Republic:

The Suns will be busy before July 1. Expect them to renounce their rights to center Alex Len and point guard Elfrid Payton, making them both free agents. Ayton’s addition has made Len expendable, and while Phoenix still needs point-guard help, Payton’s inconsistent play last season and, more importantly, his $10 million cap hold figure, likely means he’s played his last game in a Suns uniform.

Drafted in 2013 with the fifth overall pick, Len has failed to breakout after five years and a few stretches of promising flashes. With Ayton's arrival, though, Len became most dispensable. Last season, Len averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for Phoenix.

Payton, on the other hand, was a pre-trade deadline acquisition a few months ago. He is a point guard who, on a good night, is close to a triple-double threat. But his inconsistency and suspect outside game has seen him fall out of the Suns' graces. Payton averaged 11.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and a steal per game since being traded to Phoenix.

The Suns will bank on their youth movement led by Devin Booker, Ayton, Josh Jackson, and T.J. Warren moving forward as they claw their way back to Western Conference relevance.
