According to the majority of NFL fans not affiliated with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there are three sides taking part in Super Bowl LV on Sunday evening. While the Buccaneers continue to battle it out with the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs, the game's officiating crew has been way more involved than most would have liked as a result of the first half down in Tampa Bay.

Before the Buccaneers made their way into the locker room up 21-6 over the Chiefs, Tampa Bay received some serious help from the officials late in the second quarter as Kansas City was flagged for pass interference on what would go on to be quite the pivotal play.

With Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans streaking down the field late in the second quarter, Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland was flagged for a costly penalty despite the fact that the football seemed to be uncatchable as it was pretty far overthrown by quarterback Tom Brady.

Nonetheless, the Buccaneers received a first down to continue what would be its final drive of the half, one that would allow Tampa Bay to really crank up the pressure and increase its lead to 21-6 over the Chiefs. The aforementioned Brady would go on to find another Buccaneers wide out in Antonio Brown for six points shortly after Breeland was penalized.

Obviously, it comes as a major surprise that the Buccaneers lead the Chiefs by 15 points at the half.

However, the combination of some questionable calls and the Chiefs inability to get things going on offense has put Kansas City in quite the compromised position with just two quarters remaining in the 2020-21 campaign. It will be interesting to see how Super Bowl LV plays out in the end as the call on Breeland could be the talk of the town in the coming days.
