Offense has been the name of the game for both the New Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the matchup has already broken the previous record for the most total yards combined in a Super Bowl contest even before the fourth quarter started.

The Eagles are doing a solid job on offense with quarterback Nick Foles passing for 308 passing yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-33 completions as of this writing. Corey Clement and Alshon Jeffery have 93 and 73 yards so far to go with a touchdown each. Philly’s backfield is also producing with 150 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 total carries. Former Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount has 83rushing yards and a TD on nine rushes, while Jay Ajayi has 54 yards on the ground on eight carries.

Over at the other side, the Patriots are getting another superb performance from the ageless Tom Brady, who already has 457 yards and three touchdowns on 24-of-38 completions. With running back James White spearheading New England’s ground attack, the Patriots have 113 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 rushing attempts.

Of course, this offensive outbursts from these two teams imply that defense has been soft for both sides. This is not much of a surprise for the Patriots, who finished the regular season 29th in total defense with 366.0 total yards allowed per game. This is a little uncharacteristic for the Eagles, though, as they are fourth in both scoring defense and total defense (306.5) in the 2017 regular campaign.
