A new trademark filed by Square Enix for Tactics Ogre: Reborn fuels speculations for a new game coming out from the Ogre Battle franchise.

The Ogre Battle / Tactics Ogre franchise is one of Square Enix's most revered but least utilized. Thankfully, it seems like Square Enix is gearing towards a new game out of the series soon. The publishing giant filed a trademark application recently for Tactics Ogre: Reborn, which points to at least a remaster or remake of the PlayStation classic Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre served as inspiration for yet another PlayStation classic, the much more popular Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions.

After the reveal of Valkyrie Elysium last March Sony State of Play and the release of the Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, Square Enix seems to be reviving a lot of its franchises for the next generation of video games. That's great news for us older players who had the chance to play the originals and are definitely feeling the nostalgia appeal of these new games. Hopefully, we learn more about Tactics Ogre: Reborn, but our guess is it might be another mobile game that's meant more to reintroduce the IP to the gaming crowd rather than being a full release.

Meanwhile, leaks point towards a Tactics Ogre Remaster and a Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster. It turns out that games appear on Nvidia's GeForce Now streaming subscription's backend code even before the games get officially revealed or announced by their publishers. Two games included in this leak are Tactics Ogre Remastered and Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered. Among the games that the leak correctly predicted are the God of War PC version and Kingdom Hearts 4 – leading more credence to theories that all games within this list in the leak are legitimate games that will be coming soon.
