The Carolina Panthers have watched their season fall to the wayside as they've lost five straight games. With Carolina looking ahead to the future, TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor and the Panthers would be an excellent fit in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Following Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Panthers have fallen to 5-8 on the season. Therefore, Carolina is projected to have the 12th overall pick in next year's draft.

Among the team's needs, the wide receiver position is near the top of the list. Currently, the Panthers deploy a receiving corps that includes D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel, Jarius Wright, and others.

Moore and Samuel have combined for 123 receptions, 1,627 yards, and nine touchdowns thus far. As for the other wide receivers on the roster, they've contributed a grand total of only 53 catches for 591 yards and zero touchdowns.

As good as Christian McCaffrey is, he can't be your most reliable pass-catcher in every single game. Bringing in another wide receiver to aid McCaffrey and the others would open up the offense in the future.

Provided that, the Panthers are in desperate need of adding another wide receiver into the mix next year. That is where Reagor's name becomes an interesting option.

The TCU wide receiver has had somewhat of a down year in his junior season. Reagor has been able to contribute 43 receptions, 611 yards, and five touchdowns in 2019.

The big-play wide receiver had his best season in 2018 when he tallied 72 receptions, 1,061 yards, and six touchdowns. The combination of his production and explosiveness in the open field is why he's considered a player who could be taken in the first round.

Due to Cam Newton's recent injury woes, Carolina could choose to move on from their longtime quarterback after the 2019 season concludes. By doing so, the Panthers would be committing to Kyle Allen for the future.

If Allen is going to be the starter in the coming years, the Panthers are going to have to surround him with more playmakers. Reagor definitely adds another dimension to the offense with his ability to make defenders miss.

There are going to be plenty of wide receivers available in the 2020 NFL Draft. But Reagor might be the perfect fit for Norv Turner's offensive schemes.

Carolina tends to use Samuel in a multitude of ways to get him in space. The Panthers could undoubtedly do the same with Reagor if they chose to select him.

At the same time, Reagor has the potential of becoming a better wide receiver than Samuel has been. Despite his ability to create plays after the catch, Reagor has plenty of room for improvement.

That makes it even more enticing to select Reagor with a first-round pick. Adding another wide receiver to improve the offense seems like a no-brainer for the Panthers.
