Mid lane legend Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg has officially returned to pro play from retirement. The superstar vacated his position as head coach and declined a spot on the starting lineup of Team SoloMid (TSM)—the org he had stayed with for eight years—and became a free agent earlier this month. Now, Bjergsen has officially joined rival squad Team Liquid (TL), whose roster is brimming with global superstars that are hoping to capture glory in the LCS.

Although Bjergsen's addition came as no surprise after rumors and leaks had all but confirmed the roster move, TL formally unveiled the final piece to their superteam puzzle on Wednesday. This rounds out TL's 2022 lineup with former Fnatic star Bwipo up top, veteran jungler Santorin, LEC rising ADC prodigy Hans sama from Rogue, and World Champion CoreJJ as support.

With four-time LCS MVP Bjergsen signing with TL, the side is poised to take the NA scene by storm. While TSM under Bjergsen's coaching had commendable performances during the 2021 season, the squad ultimately fell short and missed out on a Worlds spot.

Meanwhile, TL continued to be dominant in the LCS, succumbing the domestic crown only to 100 Thieves in the Summer playoffs. At Worlds, however, TL failed to make it out of groups after tough luck on a day of tiebreakers in Group D alongside the likes of LCK powerhouse Gen.G and LEC first seed MAD Lions.

Bjergsen will be raring to prove that he is still one of the best, if not the best, mid laners in the LCS. With his new team, he'll look to sit atop of the standings once again and, on a larger scale, make a bigger impact on the international stage. With so many superstars on the roster, however, fans will hope that the players can build synergy and not have too many cooks in the kitchen.
