Team USA seemed to just be getting things together leading up to the Tokyo Olympics. They finally got a win against Argentina after two tough losses to Nigeria and Australia. The players seemed to be building chemistry with every game. And yet, as the past two years have indicated, COVID-19 always gets in the way.

According to Shams Charania and Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Bradley Beal's status is in doubt as he enters into health and safety protocols.

The All-Star guard was to be a key player on the Olympic team. His consistent scoring made him a dangerous weapon for the USA. His 30 ppg last season showed how he could put the ball in the bucket at will. Now, coach Popovich and the rest of the team will have to adapt to yet another obstacle.

With his presence on the court in limbo, Team USA will have to find other reinforcements. For one, Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, and Kris Middleton are all due to join the team following the end of the 2021 NBA Finals. USA can also look to the select team, comprised of many of young stars. Darius Garland, Anthony Edwards, and Tyler Herro come to mind as suitable replacements. If nothing else, it's a good problem to have knowing USA has many players just waiting to get on the court.

Despite the numerous detours this team has had to face en route to the Olympics, we've seen our nation go far in every single Olympics. Dating all the way back to 1936, the team has won a medal in every Olympic Games. We should hold faith in this squad and the incredibly talented players it holds.

Get well Bradley Beal, and go USA!
