Brazil national team head coach Aleksander Petrovic was ejected from Monday's game against Team USA after earning two quick technicals in the first half. The coach picked up the second of two technicals at the 7:10 mark of the second quarter, lasting only a little over 12 minutes on the sidelines after he heatedly debated a foul against center Anderson Varejao.

Team USA led Brazil 28-23 by the time Petrovic was sent off, but had been locked into a contest against a sharp-firing Selecao that started to catch fire from beyond the arc.

Officiating has been a point of contention throughout this 2019 FIBA World Cup, as plenty of physical play has been allowed in competition.

Recently Greece coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos claimed in a post-game press conference that his star player Giannis Antetokounmpo didn't get the respect he wanted from the officials, as two offensive fouls went against them in an 84-77 win against the Czech Republic that saw the Greeks eliminated due to an insufficient point differential.

Brazil is an underdog against an undefeated United States team (4-0), but could manage to sneak through this secondary group stage with a large win over the Americans — however, they will be forced to navigate the rest of the game without Petrovic at the helm, trailing by four points at the half.
