L.A. Clippers shooting guard Landry Shamet has withdrawn from Team USA's Select Team ahead of this year's FIBA World Cup competition in China, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski.

Shamet's agent, George Langberg, sent out an official statement to ESPN on Friday morning:

“(Landry) was appreciative of the opportunity and hopes to be part of USAB again in future,” Langberg told ESPN.

As Wojnarowski noted in his report, Shamet will use this summer to prepare for his upcoming season with the Clippers, who are projected to be among the favorites in the Western Conference after landing Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in free agency.

Shamet, now 22 years of age, was traded from the Sixers to the Clippers on February 6. By most accounts, he's been a fine addition to the team.

In his 25 appearances with the Clippers (23 starts), the former Wichita State standout racked up averages of 10.9 points on 41.4 percent shooting from the field (45.0 percent from beyond the arc), 2.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 27.8 minutes per outing.

L.A. finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 48-34 overall record, which earned the team a No. 8 seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. Unfortunately, though, the Clippers were defeated by the Golden State Warriors in the first round, 4-2.
