Following their impressive opening game victory over Montenegro, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked about the possibility of a second round showdown with Team USA in the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Per EuroHoops, it appears like the Americans are still far away from Giannis' mind as of the moment.

“We don’t think about the USA team today. We have focused on the great win that we had, what can we do better. Our next opponent is Brazil. We got to focus on that game. Team USA is far away. We got to take it game by game.”

It appears like Giannis was also ticked off by the question, as indicated in the report. As much as their sqaud is head and shoulders above their opponents in the first round, they still have to take this one game at a time.

Nevertheless, Antetokounmpo will inevitably have to deal with his fellow NBA peers on Team USA down the line as both have the best squads in their respective first round groupings.

Greece is in Group F along with Montenegro, whom they convincingly defeated earlier 85-60, Brazil, and New Zealand. They will face Brazil next on Tuesday, then finish their opening round duties against New Zealand on Thursday

Team USA, who also took care of business on opening day with a win over Czech Republic, is in Group E. Joining them are Japan and Turkey.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the second round. Barring any miraculous upsets from the other teams, Greece and USA are both slated to finish first in their respective groups.

If Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to give Greece its first ever gold medal finish in the World Cup, he'll have to go through the heavily-favored Team USA to get it.
