Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young has left USA Basketball's training camp in Las Vegas after suffering an eye infection, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Young was among the few Select Team candidates to make the roster at his position, battling Derrick White for a potential call-up to the senior team after De'Aaron Fox recently got a call-up of his own.

White is now the leading candidate at his position to make a jump to the full-fledged roster, along with big man Marvin Bagley III of the Sacramento Kings, as both players could receive call-ups in the new few days as training moves to Los Angeles next week.

The team will have its usual White vs. Blue scrimmage on Friday at T-Mobile Arena before training moves on to the Los Angeles Lakers' practice facility for three more days, at which point a few cuts are expected to be announced before an Aug. 16 friendly against Spain.

Team USA will then travel to Melbourne for back-to-back friendlies against Australia in preparation for the upcoming 2019 World Cup, which starts on Aug. 31.

The final roster will close out against Canada before departing for China to take on the rest of the world in group play competition.

Young will have a chance to return and take part in training camp next summer if he's invited back for pre-Olympic activities, which should prove yet another chance to crack the final rotation.
