As if things could get any more difficult for the struggling Team USA squad, they were hit with another bad news after it was revealed Jayson Tatum has been sidelined due to a knee injury.

The Boston Celtics swingman is reportedly dealing with a right knee soreness and has been ruled out in their pre-Olympic exhibition game against Argentina on Tuesday, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

While the injury doesn't seem to be serious and Tatum is considered day-to-day, it does not bode well to Team USA's preparation for the Tokyo Olympics. After all, it comes at a time the national team is struggling to win and close out games–with chemistry issues and defense at the forefront of their problems.

Gregg Popovich and Team USA have lost their first two exhibition games against Nigeria and Australia despite entering both contests as heavy favorites. After the 90-87 defeat to the Nigerians, Patty Mills and the Boomers gave the Americans a harsh reality check with a 91-83 beating.

Jayson Tatum, for his part, shot 4-of-12 from the field against Australia. It is unknown if he's already dealing with knee issues during the game or if it came after that. However, Team USA can only hope he'll recover sooner rather than  later as they try to experiment on their lineups and work on the issues that have pestered them in recent days.
