Team USA star Kevin Durant went on IG Live during the Opening Ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Friday, dishing on a number of topics during the parade. One thing Durant brought up was how hard Gregg Popovich was working them at practice.

While KD admitted being “pissed” in the moment during these sessions, he knows it's for the good of the team:

A common refrain from Popovich and the rest of Team USA is that they need to get their conditioning back. They pointed to not being in the proper shape as a big reason for their stunning losses to Nigeria and Australia during the four-game exhibition slate.

It's clear Pop means business when it comes to fixing this issue, running them hard in order to get ready for practice. The hard work seems to be paying off a bit, as Team USA bounced back from those two hideous losses to blow out Argentina and then beat Spain in a battle of gold-medal contenders to close out exhibition play.

Team USA begins Olympic play with a tough matchup against France on Sunday. The French have a number of NBA talents on the roster, including Rudy Gobert, Evan Fournier, Nicolas Batum and others. It will be a good test for the Americans as they open the Olympics. We'll see if Pop's coaching strategy pays off.
