It was a night to remember for Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, as he came up with arguably his best performance in the FIBA World Cup to date, leading Team USA to an absolute thrashing of Japan, 98-45.

Brown was a walking highlight reel in this one, and one of his stand-out plays came in the tail end of the first half. The 22-year-old came away with a steal, and finished the fast-break with a tremendous windmill slam.

Brown wasn't done, and despite his team leading 92-34 in the fourth and final period, he kept his foot on the gas, coming up with another monster jam on the break, which sent the crowd to their feet.

Brown finished the contest with a game-high 20 points on a very efficient 9-of-15 from the field, along with two three-pointers, seven rebounds, an assist, and two swipes in 23 minutes of play.

With this convincing victory, Team USA makes it a perfect three out of three in the opening group stage, as they progress to the next phase of the tournament. The Americans will now be grouped with Turkey, Brazil, and Greece in the second group stage.

Having already faced Turkey in the first round, Team USA will be matched up against Greece and Brazil in the next phase. The record from the first round will also be carried over to the second group stage, and the top two teams in this phase will go on to the bracket stage of the tournament.

Should the Americans emerge from the second round, they will be set to face either of the top two teams from Group L, which consists of Australia, France, the Dominican Republic, and Lithuania.
