A recognized tennis analyst has revealed the truth about how Roger Federer gets along with his fellow all-time great Novak Djokovic.

After years of dominating the sport, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have already forged a good relationship with one another on and off the court.

While many would assume that “The Big Three” really enjoys the company of each other, it appears that it isn't the case with Federer and Djokovic.

According to well-known New York Times correspondent Christopher Clarey, Nadal quickly clicked with Federer because the pair had similar backgrounds. Djokovic, on the other hand, didn't have that with Federer because he apparently struck the Swiss legend with some “impressions.”

“Rafael Nadal was Roger's first major challenger,” Clarey said via Tennis World USA. “By the time Roger made peace, Djokovic came along. Federer had a tough time to accept.”

“Rafa was deferential, Djokovic did impressions; perhaps Federer didn't much appreciate,” he added.

Federer had previously admitted that the “end is near” for his tennis career. Despite not being the closest of friends, Djokovic still wants to see his fellow 20-time Grand Slam champion stay for a little longer.

“Obviously, Roger is an icon of our sport, and people around the world love him,” Djokovic said via CBS Sports. “They love watching him play; they love seeing him around. He is very important for our sport, on and off the court. So for the sake of our sport, I sincerely hope that we can see him play, at least another time.”
