The Houston Texans have a plan in place for Duke Johnson to be a focal point of their offense. So far in training camp, the Texans are buying into the versatile game of Johnson. Bill O'Brien was quick to point out his ability to play all over the field.

Via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle:

“We’re moving him around a lot,” O’Brien said of Johnson, who began practicing with his new team Wednesday after recovering from a strained hamstring. “He’s a really smart guy. He’s able to learn what we’re doing.

There is likely no one who is more anxious to get to work with Johnson than quarterback Deshaun Watson.

“He’s an electric guy,” Watson said. “Everyone around the league knows what Duke Johnson can do, what he did for Cleveland at his time there. He’s a guy that’s going to bring a lot of energy, a lot of extra talent, and he can do a lot of different things for us.”

Earlier this offseason, Johnson requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns after the team decided to sign Kareem Hunt in free agency. After the team refusing to grant Johnson's wish, the Browns traded the versatile running back to the Texans in early August.

Since then, Houston has begun to utilize Johnson in a multitude of ways in their offense. During his four seasons with the Browns, Johnson showcased his ability to be a talented pass-catcher out of the backfield.

In the four seasons combined, Johnson has accumulated 235 receptions and eight receiving touchdowns. The Texans seemed to have added a new dynamic wrinkle in their offense for the 2019 season.
