The Houston Texans beat the Dallas Cowboys 19-16 in an overtime rivalry bout, and Alfred Morris filled in just fine for Lamar Miller. Miller was listed as questionable leading up to the game. NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Blue would start because of a chest injury Miller was suffering from. While Miller was active for the game, he did not play.

Alfred Blue did not reach the end zone on Sunday night, but he was productive. The LSU product carried the ball 10 times for 46 yards on the ground. He also recorded eight receptions for 73 yards. He was the team's second leading receiver, behind DeAndre Hopkins of course.

Lamar Miller had a solid first two seasons playing for the Texans, but he's off to a slow start. He's run for 225 yards through five weeks and has not scored a touchdown. He rushed for 1,073 yards for the Texans in the 2016-17 season, but that dropped to 888 the following year. Blue has rushed for 162 yards this season. He even scored in the team's Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots.

“I think the running back position is all about availability,” Texans head coach Bill O'Brien told CBS Sports earlier this year. “I think if you're available, you're dependable, but if you're never available, it's hard to depend on you.”

Blue was available for 28 touches on Sunday night. It's unclear whether or not his performance will earn him a start over a healthy Miller. However, he made a strong case for himself to be used more as the season progresses.
