The Texans have not been shy about making moves involving wide receivers of late, as they seemingly got fleeced by the Arizona Cardinals for DeAndre Hopkins earlier this year.

Now, the onus of productivity from the WR position will be on four-year veteran Will Fuller, who has struggled with injuries in his short career thus far. Despite those concerns, Texans coach Bill O’Brien believes Fuller will have a big season for the Texans in the vacuum left by Hopkins being traded:

“When he’s played, he’s made huge plays,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Thursday during a call with the media, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “I think he’s looking to have a really good 2020.”

Fuller had core muscle surgery this offseason (furthering the injury concerns), but there can be no denying the Texans were better with Fuller – they went 8-3 with him and 2-3 without him in the 2019 regular season.

“Will Fuller is doing great,” O’Brien continued in the conference call. “Since we’ve left, I’ve been in touch with him a couple of times. He’s working out. He looks good. We’re excited about Will. We’re excited about the 2020 Will. We feel like he’s really working.”

Even without Fuller in the playoffs, the Texans bested the Buffalo Bills and had the Kansas City Chiefs on the ropes before they stormed back.

While the Texans will surely look different next year, Fuller should expect to see his role elevated as the team’s No. 1 receiver without Hopkins on the roster.
