Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has been a major part of the team's defense for the last several years. However, Clowney is set to be a free agent this offseason, and the Texans can ill afford to lose him.

That's why Houston head coach Bill O'Brien says that the organization will work as hard as possible in trying to bring him back:

“Disruptive player. We're going to make those decisions as time goes on,” said O'Brien, according to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle. “Jadeveon has been a big part of what we've done here. When he feels good, he's hard to handle. We're going to work hard to get something done.”

Of course, Clowney is going to be in high demand, and good defensive ends tend to get paid on the open market.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson University, was originally selected by the Texans with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Clowney did not become the player he is today immediately.

He played in just four games during his rookie campaign due to injuries, and the following year, he registered just 40 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

The last three seasons have been a different story, as Clowney has earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections. This year, he racked up 47 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and a defensive touchdown.

The Texans won 11 games and captured the AFC South division title this season, but fell to the Indianapolis Colts in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs on Saturday.
