The Houston Texans are in a deep hole right now, with star center back Bradley Roby being handed a six-game suspension for violating league policy on PED use. The 28-year-old has come out with an official statement via social media, where Roby claims to have unknowingly taken a banned substance.

Here is Roby's statement via James Palmer of the NF Network:

It is worth noting that Roby is the second Texans player to have been suspended for the same offense, with wide receiver Will Fuller also being suspended for the rest of the season. It is unclear at the moment if the two incidents are related, or if the two players took the same PED-contaminated substance.

These serve as huge blows for the Texans and the rest of their campaign. They lose two key players for the remainder of the season, and will likely need to take a committee approach to fill the respective voids Roby and Fuller will leave.

Houston is currently 4-7 on the season, and are ranked third in the AFC South behind the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans. The Texans were building some good momentum over the past few weeks, logging back-to-back wins against the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots in their last two games.

They get the Colts for Week 13, and how they tweak their lineup for that contest should be a good indication of how they intend to approach the season the rest of the way.
