After being acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks is hopeful about avenging his disappointing 2019 NFL campaign. This past season with the Rams, Cooks recorded a career-low 42 catches for 583 yards and two touchdowns.

In a conference call on Thursday with the Texans’ reporters, Cooks opened up about his disappointing 2019 campaign (via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk):

“I think there were a lot of nuances that was going on last year, not just for me but from a team standpoint … We had a lot going on and at the end of the day I dealt with some things on the field, but that does not go to show what type of player I am, the production I’ve been putting in year in and year out since I’ve been in the league. That was just one of those off years, but it comes with the game. That definitely is not the trend that you should be looking for from me as a player.”

The 26-year-old has been traded three times in his six-year NFL career. However, Cooks sees it as a positive, saying,

“The way that I look at it, I take it as a positive and that I'm wanted, and that I'm valued at a high level still.”

Nevertheless, the Texans will remain hopeful they get the 2018 version of Cooks. During the 2018 season, Cooks recorded 80 catches for 1204 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Although he may not fill DeAndre Hopkins' shoes, he can still be a substantial threat on offense.
