It's been a rough few days for the Houston Texans on the field.

During Sunday's 27-9 loss at the hands of the underdog Jacksonville Jaguars, five Texans suffered concussions, including all three of their tight ends. That was especially bad news for starter C.J. Fiedorowicz, who endured another concussion just a few weeks prior.

As a result, the Texans have decided to place Fiedorowicz on injured reserve, activating suspended wide receiver Jaelen Strong in the process. Houston's concern was primarily centered around the fact that the concussions occurred so closely together.

Per NFL rules, Fiedorowicz is eligible to start practicing again in six weeks and play in eight weeks if he passes all of the required tests. He passed the standard neurological exam following his preseason concussion, allowing him to play in Week 1.

While Fiedorowicz hasn't put up incredible receiving numbers since coming into the NFL, he's an outstanding blocking tight end and was recently rewarded with a three-year, $21.5 million contract extension that includes $10 million guaranteed. He caught 54 passes for 559 yards and four touchdowns in 2016, all career highs as he took on a much larger role in the offense.

With Fiedorowicz and the other two tight ends, Ryan Griffin and Stephen Anderson, all out for Thursday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Texans have promoted undrafted free agent Evan Baylis from the practice squad to the active roster.
