The Houston Texans notably selected former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Charles Omenihu with the 161st pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. This meant JJ Watt became a teammate. Now, the rookie defensive lineman is trying to learn as much as he can with the AFC South franchise.

There is no question that the Texans and the team's coaching staff already seem to think highly of the up-and-comer — especially Houston defensive line coach Anthony Weaver.

“I hope he doesn’t read this, but he comes in with the right mindset daily,” Weaver told reporters on Monday, via USA TODAY Sports.

Not only that, but Omenihu continues to follow Texans All-Pro pass rusher JJ Watt, which will certainly help as he progresses as a NFL defender.

“He’s actively trying to get better at his craft and he is on 99 [J.J. Watt] like a sponge, to the point where I’m sure he’s probably tired of hearing his voice,” Weaver recently made a point to note, via USA TODAY Sports.

Omenihu and the Texans will have an uphill battle ahead of them come the 2019 campaign as the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars continue to reside in the AFC South division, which should end up as one of the most competitive groups in the league this season. It is also worth noting that all four of these franchises have reached the playoffs at least once over the course of the last two seasons.
