The Houston Texans made headlines for all the wrong reasons when they opted to trade wide receiver Deandre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals. There has since been plenty of speculation regarding what ultimately spurred head coach Bill O'Brien to pull the trigger on the seemingly one-sided deal.

Rumors emerged regarding the fallout between O'Brien and Hopkins in recent years. the latter has since taken to Twitter to dispel any notion of a rift:

This is being blown way out of proportion. As I’ve said before, I enjoyed and am proud of my time with the Texans. I have the utmost respect for Coach O’Brien and that will not change. Now, I’m ready to play for the Cardinals.

Hopkins has clearly wasted no time in ensuring that there are no hard feelings lingering between him and O'Brien. Regardless, it is safe to assume that there will continue to reports about how the trade came to fruition.

After all, O'Brien has understandable received plenty of flak after trading Hopkins for running back David Johnson, a second-round pick, and a swap of fourth-round picks. This is hardly the kind of return one would expect for arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. The deal was magnified by what the Minnesota Vikings got injured return from the Buffalo Bills for an inferior wide receiver in Stefon Diggs.

Although there will continue to be speculation regarding the reasoning behind this blockbuster deal, it is clear that Hopkins is simply focused on beginning his new chapter with the Cardinals.
