Demaryius Thomas threw some shade at his former team, the Denver Broncos, after beating them in dramatic fashion on his Houston Texans debut. Thomas’ comments seemed to hint that his departure from Denver wasn’t exactly amicable.

On Monday, Thomas finally aired out all of his bad feelings with the Broncos, particularly general manager John Elway and head coach Vance Joseph and his coaching staff, in an interview on Orange & Blue radio (760 AM).

Thomas claims that he was misled by the Broncos about their supposed plans for him ahead of the trade deadline.

“Monday before [the trade] Vance Joseph walked up to me and he said, ‘Don't listen to the trade talk; it's not true,'” Thomas said per Jeff Legwold of ESPN. “… When he said that to me, I said, ‘How is that not true? My agent called me today and said Elway wanted a fifth-round pick for me.' So, are we telling stories to each other now? I thought we were going to men about this.”

Thomas said it was “heartbreaking” that he was not made an offensive captain despite being the longest-tenured player in the team. He also bemoaned the fact that he was told his playing time was going to be reduced in favor of rookies Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton.

“And I don't understand that because I never cried about getting the ball,” Thomas said on the show. “I didn't get pissed about nothing … it just hurt me. I'm emotional. I'm empty. I'm empty still.”

It’s understandable to see why Thomas feels the way he did after he was treated by the organization. Despite dutifully serving the team for nine years, it doesn’t appear as if the Broncos gave him the respect he earned and deserved.

It’s just unfortunate that one of the greatest players in franchise history left on such bad terms. And based on how things went down, it seems as if Thomas’ wounds won’t heal anytime soon.
