There has been plenty of excitement building around the Houston Texans ahead of training camp. At the forefront of this optimism is the health of quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson has made some tremendous strides in his recovery. He said during an appearance on the NFL Network that he will be good to go by training camp, via Adam Wexler of KPRC:

“I feel great,” Watson said. “I’m getting ready for next week when we report to The Greenbrier; I’m going to be full-go.”

Watson's update is music to the ears of Texans fans everywhere. There is no doubt that Houston boasts one of the most talented squads in the league. Unfortunately, they have been unable to put it together due to injuries to their star players.

This was extremely evident during the 2017 campaign. Following a late start to the year, Watson emerged as one of the most talented, young quarterbacks in the NFL. He finished his rookie year throwing for 1,699 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He also managed to tally 269 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. That said, Watson has set the bar for both himself and the team this season.

As talented as the Texans are, they have sorely lacked a competent quarterback under center for quite some time. However, head coach Bill O'Brien is optimistic that the search for a franchise quarterback is over. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Watson adjusts to defenses that have been able to form a game plan around him moving forward.
