Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone has a tough draw when it comes to his first two weeks of the 2019 NFL season. Not only did he have to coach against the 2018 MVP in Patrick Mahomes in Week 1, he’ll now have to take on the Houston Texans and Deshaun Watson on Sunday.

With the Jaguars' 40-26 loss to the Chiefs during Week 1, both the Jaguars and Texans will head into the Week 2 meeting looking for their first win of the year. According to Marrone, he’s seen more than enough of Watson to already group him together with Mahomes, calling the pair of them great.

“I think both quarterbacks, from the standpoint of being potential MVPs of the league, are the same.” Marrone said (via Texas Wire).

When asked why he felt that way about the pair of quarterbacks, Marrone pointed to the leadership qualities that they both possess, as well as their skills throwing the ball.

“They’re great leaders, they’re winners, they have great poise, they can escape, they can extend plays, they can run, they can throw it behind the defense, they can throw it accurately,” Marrone said.

While the Jaguars performed well enough against the Chiefs, their season was potentially derailed by the news that quarterback Nick Foles suffered a broken clavicle during the early part of the game. With Foles out, the Jaguars will now turn to Gardner Minshew to lead them on Sundays, and with a fully capable defense behind them, it wouldn’t be too shocking to see the Jaguars pull some victories out throughout the year.
