Houston Texans quarterback is glad to have the support of fans planning a march amid a plethora of trade rumors, but he is promoting public health and safety.

Watson sent out a tweet Monday morning asking a march planned on his behalf be canceled as a precaution. The star signal-caller iterated high rates of COVID-19 persist, and said he did not want fans to have unnecessary exposure.

Fans were planning a rally beginning at Watson's restaurant in Houston, Lefty's, and marching all the way to NRG Stadium.

Watson, however, is hoping to mitigate risks to public safety.

The rally comes in the midst of a calamitous start to 2021 for the Texans and their fans. Early rumors swirled suggesting Watson could seek a trade this offseason. The noise grew louder after reports surfaced suggesting the former Clemson star was dismayed Houston had all but ignored his suggestions for the team's next General Manager.

Texans owner Cal McNair and newly-hired GM Nick Caserio said they would speak with Watson after he came back from vacation. But Watson's recent social activity suggests he has no interest in engaging, especially after McNair issued a statement of support for Jack Easterby.

In spite of fan frustration, the relationship between Watson and the Texans might be unsalvageable.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Houston had “internal conversations” about trade partners for Watson.

There is no doubt Watson is worthy of the “franchise QB” label.

Texans fans wish Watson could still be that guy in Houston, but the situation could be past the point of no return.
